A 15-year-old scooter rider was hospitalized April 30th in Warsaw after a collision with a car driven by a woman under the influence.
Collision on Czerniakowska Street
The incident occurred on Thursday, April 30th, before 8:00 AM on Czerniakowska Street in Warsaw. A 15-year-old scooter operator was injured and transported to a hospital by emergency medical services.
The collision took place near Czerniakowska 81/83, on the roadway heading towards Wilanów, at the entrance to a parking area.
Driver Found to be Intoxicated
Police determined the Toyota driver was under the influence of alcohol. A breathalyzer test revealed a concentration of 0.31mg/l, exceeding 0.65 parts per mille.
The woman was detained and taken to the police station, with further proceedings to be conducted after she sobered up.
Preliminary Findings Point to Scooter Operator
Initial investigations suggest the scooter operator may have caused the accident. The teen reportedly entered the roadway directly in front of the Toyota as it was turning right into the parking area while exiting a bike lane.
Infrastructure Concerns at the Site
The bike lane terminates abruptly at the location, covering a distance of approximately 5 meters – the width of the parking entrance. Traffic police are investigating the exact circumstances of the accident.
