On Sunday afternoon, 23 November, traffic police from the Lipsko command chased a 42‑year‑old Opla driver who ignored stop signals and attempted to flee. After several hundred metres the vehicle stopped in a parking lot, and the driver swapped seats with a passenger.
Drunk, Unlicensed Drivers on Board
The Opla carried three occupants: the 42‑year‑old local from Koźle County, a 50‑year‑old passenger from Radom County, and a 29‑year‑old woman from Radom County. Both men were intoxicated and held no valid driving licences. The 50‑year‑old claimed he was driving, but police testimony and the passenger’s statement contradicted this.
Charges and Legal Proceedings
On Tuesday, 25 November, the 42‑year‑old faced accusations of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, with nearly 2‰ alcohol in his blood, and failing to stop for inspection. He also faced charges for driving without required qualifications and speeding in a built‑up area. The 50‑year‑old passenger was charged similarly, with over 1‰ alcohol in his blood and no licence.
