Evacuation at Warsaw-Modlin Airport Due to Left Luggage

On Friday, March 13, Warsaw-Modlin Airport was partially evacuated after suspicious luggage was discovered, causing flight delays.

Initial Response and Evacuation

On Friday, March 13, around 12:40 PM, officers – pyrotechnicians from the Warsaw-Modlin Border Guard Station took action after identifying left luggage in the parking lot in front of the airport terminal. Due to the intervention, the public hall, parking lot, and access road to the terminal were evacuated.

Investigation and Identification

The services began action after receiving information about left luggage located in front of the airport terminal. Officers – pyrotechnicians from the Warsaw-Modlin Border Guard Station were dispatched to the scene, who conducted reconnaissance of the object.

As part of the measures taken, it was decided to evacuate part of the airport infrastructure. This included the public hall of the terminal, the parking lot, and the access road to the terminal. A total of about 350 people were evacuated.

The reconnaissance ended at 1:30 PM. The result was negative – the luggage contained personal belongings and clothing. The perpetrators of leaving the luggage were not identified.

Airport Operations Affected

The incident affected the operation of the airport. Due to the intervention, delays were recorded in two flight operations.
