Fatal Collision on National Road 60: Two Dead After Head-On Crash

Two men have died following a head-on collision between a Ford passenger car and a Mercedes truck on National Road 60 in Huta, near Glinojeck, on Saturday, May 16.

The Circumstances of the Tragedy

The accident occurred on May 16 at approximately 8:20 PM on the stretch of National Road 60 between Ciechanów and Glinojeck. A Ford passenger car and a Mercedes truck with a trailer were involved in the collision.

According to preliminary police findings, the driver of the Ford was traveling toward Glinojeck when he veered into the opposite lane, striking the oncoming Mercedes truck. The driver of the passenger car died at the scene; his identity remains unconfirmed.

Emergency Response and Victim Recovery

The truck driver, a 35-year-old resident of the Ciechanów district, was found pinned under the tanker trailer. The force of the impact caused severe deformation of the passenger vehicle, complicating rescue efforts that required specialized heavy-lifting equipment.

Rescuers managed to extract the truck driver, who was unconscious but showing vital signs. Despite being transported to the hospital in Ciechanów and receiving medical attention, the man succumbed to his injuries and passed away.

Firefighters’ Account of the Operation

Members of the Glinojeck Volunteer Fire Department described the scene as one that stays with responders for life, especially when the victims are local residents. Operations involved units from Ciechanów, Glinojeck, Szyjki, Ościsłów, and Rydzewo.

The road was completely blocked for several hours while police, forensic technicians, and the prosecutor conducted an investigation. Emergency services concluded their on-site operations at approximately 3:00 AM.
