A deadly accident involving two trucks on the A2 highway near Wiktorów, Łódź Voivodeship, on Monday morning has caused a complete closure in the direction of Poznań.
Accident Details
The collision occurred around 4:40 AM on April 20th, at kilometer 341 of the A2 highway, near Wiktorów in Łódź Voivodeship. Two trucks were involved, with one stationary on the shoulder.
According to fire department spokesperson Jędrzej Pawlak, a truck carrying concrete tanks was struck by another truck. Individuals were present around the stationary truck, changing a tire at the time of the impact.
Casualties
One person died at the scene, and three others were injured. The deceased was either the driver or a passenger of the truck being serviced. The injured include another person from the truck, the truck driver, and a mechanic from a mobile tire service.
All those affected were outside of the vehicles when the collision occurred.
Rescue Efforts and Road Closure
Emergency services are still working at the scene, including efforts to extricate a man trapped between safety barriers and the trailer.
The A2 highway towards Poznań is completely blocked. Drivers are advised to exit at the Emilia interchange and take alternative routes via national road 91 to Łęczyca, then provincial road 703 to the Wartkowice interchange to rejoin the A2.
Traffic Disruption
Authorities warn that the disruption may last for several hours, and drivers heading towards Poznań should expect significant delays and heavy traffic.
