The Ministry of Finance released budget data for January through April, revealing that the state deficit reached approximately 89.29 billion PLN, accounting for 32.9 percent of the planned annual limit.
Budget Performance and Deficit Figures
According to the Ministry of Finance’s preliminary data, the state budget deficit hit 89.29 billion PLN between January and April of this year. Budget revenues reached 187 billion PLN, representing roughly 29 percent of the annual target.
Breakdown of Tax Revenues
State tax revenues for the first four months totaled 168.4 billion PLN. Indirect taxes, including VAT and excise, generated 145.25 billion PLN, while CIT brought in 40.2 billion PLN. Income from PIT was negative at -23.7 billion PLN, and the tax on certain financial institutions yielded approximately 2.5 billion PLN.
State Expenditures and Debt Service
State spending for the period amounted to 276.3 billion PLN. Major outflows included 23.5 billion PLN for servicing state treasury debt, 22.84 billion PLN in general subsidies for local government units, and 16.6 billion PLN in subsidies to the Social Insurance Fund.
2024 Budget Projections
The current year’s budget act anticipates a maximum deficit of 271.74 billion PLN. This is based on projected total revenues of 647.2 billion PLN and planned expenditures of 918.94 billion PLN.
