Emergency services received a report on Tuesday, April 28th, around 4:04 AM, concerning a person potentially needing help in the area of Lake Klucz in Skrzeszew, Wieliszew commune, Legionowo county.
Circumstances of Disappearance
Initial findings indicate the 77-year-old man departed for a fishing trip on Monday, April 27th, around 7:00 PM. When he failed to return, a friend alerted authorities.
Search and Rescue Operation
Firefighters and police were dispatched to the scene, with four fire departments participating, including units from Legionowo, Warsaw (specialist water and diving rescue group), and Kałuszyn. Search efforts focused on the lake and its immediate surroundings.
Discovery of Boat and Body
The man’s boat was located, empty but containing his belongings. Subsequently, a search of the shoreline and surrounding area led to the discovery of the 77-year-old’s body in the reeds near the shore shortly before 5:00 AM.
Pronouncement of Death and Investigation
A doctor at the scene pronounced the man dead. Rescue operations concluded around 5:30 AM. Police, under the supervision of the prosecutor’s office, secured the body for an autopsy to determine the cause and circumstances of death.
