Five Charged in Poland with Russian Spy Sabotage Plot

Five people including Russian and Ukrainian citizens charged with sabotage plot targeting Poland and Western countries.

Prosecutors File Charges Against Five Individuals

The prosecutor submitted an indictment to the District Court in Warsaw against five persons accused of acting on behalf of Russian intelligence and participating in sabotage acts involving courier packages with hidden incendiary devices. The suspects include four Ukrainian citizens (Władysław D., Wiaczesław C., Władysław B., Serhiyi Y.) and one Russian citizen (Aleksander B.).

Sabotage Packages Self-Ignited During Transit

The charges include preparing and sending six packages: four with sabotage devices sent from Vilnius to Poland and Great Britain, and two test packages sent from Warsaw to the US and Canada. Three packages self-ignited during transport in Poland and at airports in Leipzig and Birmingham. The accused face life imprisonment and have been detained.

Sixth Suspect at Large with International Search

The Prosecutor’s Office has also obtained evidence for charging a sixth person, Jarosław M., a Russian citizen. Due to his unknown whereabouts, charges haven’t been formally filed yet. National and international searches have been initiated, and an extradition request has been submitted to Azerbaijani authorities.
