Four Men Detained for Illegal Stay and Work

Border guards in Warsaw-Modlin detained four foreign nationals in Płock and Żuromin County for immigration violations and unauthorized employment.

Detention Details

Four foreign nationals with irregular status were detained by officers from the Border Guard Station Warsaw-Modlin during legality of stay checks conducted in Płock and Żuromin County. In addition to illegal stay, two of them were working without required work permits.

Indian Nationals’ Case

The detained men include citizens of India and Bangladesh. The Indian nationals were detained in Płock. The men, aged 45 and 54, presented their original passports along with Lithuanian residence cards invalidated two years earlier. Additionally, their data appeared in systems as third-country nationals to whom entry and stay in EU member states should be denied. The officers determined that the foreigners entered Poland from Lithuania, where they subsequently submitted applications to the governor for a temporary residence permit, but did so while illegally staying on Polish territory.

Administrative Proceedings Against Indians

Due to their violation of residence regulations, the commander of the Border Guard Station Warsaw-Modlin initiated administrative proceedings to require their return, culminating in the issuance of appropriate decisions. These decisions also imposed a 2-year ban on re-entry to Poland and other Schengen Area countries.

Bangladeshi Nationals’ Case

The two remaining men – 26 and 30-year-old citizens of Bangladesh – entered Poland based on passports with Polish type D visas to take up employment at a local sewing factory. After their visas expired, the men applied for temporary residence and work permission, but – like the Indian citizens – on the day they submitted the applications to the governor, they were illegally staying in Poland. Furthermore, the Bangladeshis working daily at one of the Żuromin sewing factories did not have the required work permits.

Employer Investigation

In view of the discovery of violations in their employment procedures, officers from the Border Guard Station Warsaw-Modlin also conducted a legality of employment check at the mentioned production plant.

Year-End Statistics

Since the beginning of the year, officers from the Border Guard Station Warsaw-Modlin have initiated over 90 proceedings requiring foreigners to return, issuing nearly 70 decisions ordering these persons to leave Polish territory. Regarding checks on the legality of employing foreigners, officers have completed processing in 14 such cases and initiated 10 new proceedings concerning employment.
