Two Uzbeks Detained During ‘Safe Transport’ Operation

Warsaw Border Guard and police detained two Uzbek citizens during a ‘Safe Transport’ operation for illegal stay while working as ride-share drivers.

Joint Operation

Officers of the Nadwiślański Border Guard Department, in cooperation with traffic police officers of the Capital City Police Headquarters, conducted another control operation this year as part of the ‘Safe Transport’ action. The purpose of joint patrols is to verify the legality of stay of foreigners performing passenger transport using popular mobile applications.

Increased Controls

Since the beginning of the year, officers from the Border Guard Station in Warsaw have conducted seven such operations together with the capital police. During them, nearly 60 foreigners working as drivers providing passenger transport services were checked. As a result of the checks, 13 persons were detained who violated the provisions regarding stay on the territory of the Republic of Poland.

Detailed Findings

During yesterday’s operation, Warsaw Border Guard officers checked seven drivers performing transport using mobile applications. In the case of two Uzbek citizens aged 20 and 29, the required residence documents were found to be missing – valid visas or other documents authorizing entry and stay in Poland. Additionally, it was established that one of the men crossed the state border in violation of the applicable regulations, moving from Germany to Poland.

Legal Consequences

Against both foreigners, administrative proceedings were initiated in the matter of obligation to return. These proceedings ended with the issuance of decisions ordering the departure from the territory of the Republic of Poland within 20 days. At the same time, a re-entry ban to Poland and other Schengen area countries was imposed in them – respectively for 6 and 18 months.

Continued Enforcement

Actions carried out as part of the ‘Safe Transport’ action aim to increase passenger safety and verify the legality of stay and employment of foreigners performing passenger transport in the Warsaw metropolitan area. Controls of this type will continue.
