How to Apply for a Free Sanatorium, Step-by-Step

A ZUS medical examiner or physiotherapist makes the final decision, potentially based on submitted medical documentation – test results, hospital discharge summaries, and treatment history. Applicants should bring this documentation to any ZUS examination.
If approved, applicants will receive a notification with their rehabilitation dates and location. The decision process takes 3 to 8 weeks.
Appealing a ZUS Sanatorium Denial
A denied application isn’t final. Applicants have one month to appeal the decision to a district court, submitting a written or recorded appeal through ZUS.
Rehabilitation Duration and Sanatorium Stay
A standard stay lasts 24 days, but the sanatorium physician can adjust the duration with ZUS approval. A post-treatment summary detailing the patient’s health status is generated upon completion.
