World leaders at Davos seek new growth engines as global trade weakens under geopolitical pressure.
Slowdown in Global Trade
Global political and economic leaders gathered in Davos are concerned about slowing economic growth resulting from intensifying great power rivalry, numerous conflicts, and a record number of barriers in global trade.
Seeking New Growth Engines
The freeing of international trade, which has been the foundation of globalization, has driven GDP growth on Earth for decades. For 2026, facing numerous disruptions, global trade is expected to grow by just 0.9% and can hardly be considered a driver of global economic growth.
It’s no wonder that business is seeking new growth engines and wants to discuss this with politicians. That’s why new technologies, led by AI, occupy so much space in the debates taking place in the Swiss resort.
Technology and Security Discussions
Revolutionary changes in many areas of business and life through artificial intelligence were also discussed at the Polish Business Hub, a place of great importance for building Poland’s and Polish business’s international position.
Panel participants from across Europe and the US discussed the economy in the context of war threat, digital resilience in a world becoming more digital daily, European leadership in the global security landscape, and cooperation between technology, finance and defense sectors.
European Perspectives
The third day of the Forum in Davos will likely be dominated by Donald Trump and the message with which his administration is coming to Europe.
At the Polish Business Hub, as always, there is a Polish and European perspective on the most important economic and political issues. Details are available in interviews and reports.
