Hit-and-Run Driver Flees Scene on Foot After Second Collision in Warsaw

A 21-year-old driver was apprehended by police after causing two consecutive collisions on Marynarska Street in Warsaw late Thursday night and attempting to escape the scene on foot.

Two Collisions on Marynarska Street

The incident occurred on May 21 shortly after 11:00 PM on Marynarska Street, heading toward Hynka. A minor collision initially took place at the European Union Roundabout between a Lexus and a Peugeot.

Reports indicate that the driver of the Peugeot initially stopped to handle the necessary formalities but suddenly accelerated and fled the scene shortly after.

Pursuit and Abandonment of Vehicle

The driver of the Lexus pursued the Peugeot. A second collision occurred near Taśmowa Street, prompting the Peugeot driver to abandon his vehicle and flee the area on foot.

Police and fire services were dispatched to the scene. Firefighters secured the location and the vehicles involved, while officers from the Metropolitan Police Traffic Department began their investigation.

Apprehension and Legal Consequences

Plainclothes officers from the Warsaw II District Police conducted a search of the surrounding area. They located a man matching the description of the Peugeot driver and brought him back to the scene.

The 21-year-old suspect, who tested negative for alcohol, could not provide a reason for his flight. The incident was classified as a collision, and the driver was issued a fine.
