Homeless Man Killed by Falling Tree in Warsaw Wild Campsite

A homeless man died instantly after a dry, rotten tree collapsed onto his makeshift shelter near the Vistula River bank by the Miedzeszyński Embankment in Warsaw’s Praga-Południe district on Tuesday.

Tragic Discovery at Vistula Bank

Emergency services were alerted shortly before 11:00 AM to a forest area near the Poniatowski Bridge. The body was discovered by an acquaintance who regularly visited the man to provide food and check on his well-being.

Emergency Response and Fatality

Firefighters, police, and a medical rescue team were dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, responders confirmed that the man was trapped under the trunk; however, his injuries were fatal, and the doctor on-site could only pronounce him dead.

Preliminary Investigation

Initial findings suggest the tree was dry and decayed, collapsing onto the man while he was likely sleeping, leaving him no opportunity to escape. Firefighters were required to extract the body from beneath the debris.

On-Site Procedures

Police officers, working under the supervision of a prosecutor, secured the area and conducted a thorough examination to determine the circumstances of the incident. The identity of the deceased has not yet been confirmed, and the case is currently being treated as an accidental death.
