A 20‑kilometre convoy of trucks has stalled at the Dorohusk Polish‑Ukrainian crossing, forcing drivers to wait up to 36 hours amid Christmas‑season traffic on DK‑12.
Dorohusk Cross‑Section Delayed by 20‑km Truck Queue
On December 21, a line of trucks stretched roughly 20 kilometres along DK‑12 near the Dorohusk border checkpoint, creating a significant bottleneck.
Police reported at 3 p.m. that the queue had reached 20 kilometres, noting that it had been shorter by a few kilometres earlier that morning.
Police Measures to Manage Congestion and City Traffic
Police authorities said the congestion was linked to the upcoming Christmas holidays and that they were continuously monitoring traffic from Chełmskiej regional road unit.
They established a buffer zone, directed trucks to position alongside the road so that local residents could pass, and intervened when additional lines formed, urging drivers to use alternative border crossings when possible.
Prolonged Clearance Times at Key Polish‑Ukrainian Border Points
Official estimates from granica.gov.pl show that wait times have sharply increased at several crossings, with Dorohusk expecting about 36 hours to begin clearance.
Other crossings experiencing long delays include Korczowa (31 hours), Medyka (18 hours) and Dolhobycz (16 hours).
