Politicians from the Centrum parliamentary club are pressing MP Izabela Bodnar for information regarding the legal troubles of her husband. Initial talks are being arranged between Bodnar and Senator Jacek Trela to determine the party’s next steps.
Senator Trela confirmed he has initiated contact but noted that future decisions regarding the situation depend entirely on the outcome of their private discussion. The party leadership intends to use this meeting as a basis for further deliberations within the club.
Statement from Izabela Bodnar
Addressing the matter on the X platform on Monday, May 18, Izabela Bodnar asserted her husband’s innocence, describing him as a victim in a bizarre situation. She expressed full support for him and stated that she is not authorized to provide further details while the case remains active.
Allegations and the scope of investigation
The investigation into the surveillance of local officials by ABW agents began on May 13, 2024. Investigators allege that Maciej B. was the person who ordered these illegal activities, leading to his detention on the same day.
The Legnica District Prosecutor’s Office has brought charges against five individuals. Allegations include the fabrication of evidence, disclosure of protected secrets, exceeding the scope of private investigative services, and abuse of power by public officials.
Law enforcement personnel under scrutiny
Among the suspects alongside Maciej B. are police officer Igor N. and former ABW agent Marcin P. Prosecutors allege that Igor N. accessed police databases without proper authorization, while Marcin P. is accused of leading an organized criminal group tasked with conducting surveillance.
