Jarosław Kaczyński visited the graves of Maria and Lech Kaczyński on April 18th, marking the 16th anniversary of their funeral. Following the visit, PiS politicians gathered at the party’s Krakow headquarters, with approximately 30 people in attendance, including Mariusz Błaszczak, Jacek Sasin, Jacek Kurski, Adam Bielan, Joanna Lichocka, Ryszard Terlecki, and Łukasz Kmita.
Terlecki Suggests Kaczyński Should Step Aside
During the meeting, Ryszard Terlecki reportedly indicated that Kaczyński should step down and pass leadership of the party to a younger individual, leading to a heated exchange. Other party members described the exchange as merely “banter.”
Kaczyński Responds, Suggesting Terlecki’s Departure
Kaczyński was reportedly surprised by Terlecki’s comments, stating that if Terlecki disliked the party’s management style, he should be the one to leave. Terlecki allegedly responded that he was prepared to do so and questioned whether he would be expelled from the party.

Sources within the party stated that the exchange crossed a line, with one individual noting it was a “blow,” particularly given Kaczyński’s perceived fondness for Terlecki. Attempts to reach Terlecki for comment were unsuccessful.

Jarosław Kaczyński convened a meeting of PiS authorities to discuss the party’s future direction, specifically whether to pursue multiple strategies or adopt a more radical approach.
Dispute Erupts Over Morawiecki’s Association
The meeting also addressed a recent dispute between supporters and opponents of Mateusz Morawiecki, following the establishment of his association, “Rozwój Plus.” Participants described the situation as a “brawl.”
Morawiecki’s Association Aims to Revitalize PiS Support
Morawiecki founded “Rozwój Plus” with the goal of attracting voters and returning to successful PiS policies focused on families, entrepreneurs, farmers, youth, and seniors.
Kaczyński Issues Ultimatum Regarding New Association
Kaczyński stated that no parallel structures should emerge within the party, warning against “parasitism.” He expressed hope that those involved in the association would recognize they were harming both PiS and Poland. He issued an ultimatum: participation in the association or exclusion from PiS electoral lists.
Compromise Reached with Morawiecki
Following a seven-hour discussion, Kaczyński announced a compromise with Morawiecki, stating that the association’s activities would be conducted within the party, albeit with some limitations.
