PiS leader Jarosław Kaczyński is requesting donations as the party faces financial difficulties, with reports indicating many politicians are not meeting contribution requirements.
PiS Appeals for Funds, Cites Financial Losses
The PiS leader argued the party has lost 46 million złoty and that current activities, including political and program initiatives, generate significant costs.
Discrepancies in Party Contribution Records
Radio ZET’s analysis of official payment records for 2024, 2025, and 2026 reveals that many PiS parliamentarians are not paying the contributions stipulated by party rules. According to those rules, MPs and senators should contribute 1,000 złoty monthly, while MEPs should contribute 5,000 złoty monthly.
In 2025, total contributions from national PiS parliamentarians amounted to just over 75,000 złoty, significantly less than the expected amount if all members fulfilled their obligations. Over 160 PiS MPs had zero registered contributions for the previous year.
Key Figures Initially Absent from Contribution Records
Initially, the contribution records for 2025 did not include Jarosław Kaczyński, Przemysław Czarnek, Mateusz Morawiecki, or Mariusz Błaszczak. Following publication, PiS spokesperson Rafał Bochenek provided additional data, stating Kaczyński contributed 15,000 złoty in 2024 and 6,000 złoty in 2025; Morawiecki contributed 50,000 złoty in 2024; Czarnek contributed 4,000 złoty in 2024, 4,000 złoty in 2025, and 2,000 złoty in 2026; and Błaszczak contributed 4,000 złoty in 2024, 10,000 złoty in 2025, and 4,000 złoty in 2026.
PiS Explains Contribution Variances
PiS treasurer Henryk Kowalczyk acknowledged that not all parliamentarians and MEPs have made full contributions, citing varying levels of arrears and stating the party reminds politicians of their financial obligations.
Rafał Bochenek explained that some MPs were exempt from contributions or paid less due to financial penalties imposed by the Sejm Presidium following events in April 2025. He also warned that consequences, such as placement on electoral lists, may be imposed on politicians who do not fulfill their agreements with the party.
QR Code Mix-Up During Fundraising Appeal
TV Republika displayed a QR code during Kaczyński’s fundraising conference that led not to a PiS account, but to a fundraising campaign for the television station itself.
TV Republika has been actively soliciting financial support from viewers, with Miłosz Kłeczek appealing for donations on air the day before Kaczyński’s conference.
Origins of PiS’s Financial Problems
The dispute over PiS’s finances began after decisions regarding party election accounts. In August 2024, the National Electoral Commission (PKW) rejected the party’s election report from the 2023 parliamentary elections, citing irregularities. This resulted in the loss of some funding and subsidies, and subsequently a dispute arose over the interpretation of a ruling by the Supreme Court’s Extraordinary Control Chamber and a PKW resolution by the Minister of Finance. As a result, PiS is now publicly requesting donations from supporters, but the problem also affects its own politicians, according to Radio ZET.
