Internet personality Piotr Hancke, known as Łatwogang, is cycling from Zakopane to Gdańsk to raise 12 million PLN for the gene therapy of a child diagnosed with Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
A Grassroots Charity Effort
Piotr Hancke emphasized before starting that the campaign relies on solidarity and the active engagement of his livestream viewers. He noted that every form of support counts, including simply watching the broadcast and the advertisements displayed alongside it.
Acknowledging the financial burden on his community after his previous large-scale campaign, Hancke reiterated that he is giving his all and that even minimal engagement via the live stream provides essential help.
Progress and Logistics
As of 2:00 PM on Saturday, more than 7 million PLN of the 12 million PLN goal had been collected. Hancke is currently traversing the Łódź Voivodeship on his route from Zakopane to the Baltic coast.
The influencer admitted he did not have a strictly mapped-out route and that the journey’s pace depends on physical conditions. Accompanied by a technical support vehicle, he expects the ride to take approximately 40 hours before he plans to sleep and return to Zakopane.
Inspiration Behind the Ride
Hancke decided to organize this expedition shortly after concluding his previous charity drive. He was moved by the stories of children with Duchenne muscular dystrophy, particularly the case of Maks, who contacted the organizers via email.
The campaign aims to fund a gene therapy treatment costing approximately 15 million PLN. Between October 2025 and the start of this ride, 3 million PLN was raised; with the addition of funds collected during this trip, the remaining target is roughly 12 million PLN.
Previous Success
The young beneficiary, Maks Tocki, expressed his initial nerves, which were soon replaced by a sense of euphoria and disbelief. Maks, a second-grade primary school student who enjoys drawing and playing soccer, is the primary focus of this effort.
Łatwogang’s previous charity project successfully raised over 251 million PLN for the Cancer Fighters foundation. That nine-day internet broadcast reached peak viewership of more than 1.5 million people.
