Lower Silesia: Pedestrian Killed, Body Taken into Forest; Suspect Still Free

On 11 February last year, a 67‑year‑old Kłodzko resident was hit by an unidentified vehicle near Ścinawka Dolna, died from injuries, and his body was found several kilometres from the scene in a forest.

Incident Details

On 11 February last year, a 67‑year‑old resident of Kłodzko County was struck by an unidentified vehicle on county road 386 near Ścinawka Dolna. The victim died from the injuries, and his body was later found about 3–4 kilometres away in a forest from the crash site.

Police Search for Suspect

The Kłodzko County Police said the driver, whose vehicle’s brand remains unknown, most likely transported the victim to the forest before fleeing. Police urged witnesses to come forward with information.

Investigation Discontinued

According to Gazeta.pl and prosecutor Małgorzata Czajkowska, the investigation opened in June last year has been discontinued. Investigators interviewed witnesses, examined local car repair shops, and secured footage from private residences, commercial premises on the Kłodzko‑Ścinawka Średnia route, and municipal CCTV.

The inquiry found no new information on the suspect or witnesses from the interrogations, operational reconnaissance, or further evidence collection.

Prosecution Status

Prosecutor Czajkowska clarified that a discontinued case does not mean the matter is definitively closed. If new evidence emerges, particularly identifying the suspect, the proceedings could be reopened.
