Major Fire Engulfs Commercial Complex in Płock

A large-scale fire broke out at a commercial and service facility on Rembielińskiego Street in Płock on Monday evening, prompting a significant emergency response as thick black smoke blankets the city.

Emergency Operations Underway

On Monday, June 1, around 7:00 PM, a dangerous fire erupted in a 20-by-60-meter industrial hall located on Rembielińskiego Street in Płock, Masovian Voivodeship. Fourteen fire department units are currently engaged in firefighting efforts at the scene.

Junior Captain Wojciech Pietrzak, press officer for the Municipal Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Płock, confirmed that the fire is fully developed and has not yet been localized. Despite continuous water streams applied by firefighters, the intensity of the blaze remains high.

Evacuations and Safety Concerns

All individuals present in the burning facility were safely evacuated. Firefighters also cleared staff and patrons from an adjacent restaurant. No injuries have been reported, though officials remain concerned about a nearby gas station.

The column of black smoke rising from the site is visible from over a dozen kilometers away. At this stage, the cause of the fire and the total extent of the damage remain unknown.

Regional Fire Risks

Recent days have seen increased fire activity in the Masovian region, including forest fires in the Sokołów district that were extinguished over the weekend. The Institute of Meteorology and Water Management has issued widespread alerts regarding high forest fire risks across Poland, urging the public to exercise extreme caution.
