A 41-year-old Gdańsk resident surrendered to police after a viral video captured him stopping his car, opening a woman’s door, and assaulting her in a road rage incident.
The Incident Under Investigation
Footage provided to TVN24 shows a man exiting his vehicle, approaching another car, and attacking the female driver. Witnesses reported that the man struck the car window and damaged the mirror before fleeing the scene.
The 41-year-old perpetrator later turned himself in to the police. Officer Karol Kościuk of the Pruszcz Gdański District Police stated that the man admitted to his identity and claimed he was “agitated,” though he offered no further explanation for his behavior.
Legal Status and Victim Impact
Authorities have identified the victim, who did not sustain injuries and declined to file a formal complaint regarding the property damage. The investigation is ongoing, and once evidence is collected, a motion for sentencing will be submitted to the court.
Reporting Emergencies and Public Safety
Officials remind the public to report crimes like assaults or road accidents immediately via 112 or 997. Providing precise locations and victim details is crucial for timely law enforcement intervention.
For non-emergency matters such as minor theft or vehicle damage, reports should be filed at the nearest police station or prosecutor’s office. Authorities emphasize that reporting even when unsure if others have called is vital for public safety.
Resources for Victims
Witnesses to violence are encouraged to offer assistance and report suspicions to law enforcement or the Blue Line, a 24-hour hotline for victims of domestic and public violence.
