72-year-old seen driving while pulling dog on leash; video goes viral as police investigate the incident.
Video Incident in Ząbek
On Sunday (January 18), the Stop Cham channel published a video from Ząbek (Mazowieckie Province). The footage shows a man driving a car while holding a dog on a leash that was running alongside the vehicle.
The police have issued a statement regarding the incident, which has attracted widespread attention online.
Police Statement on the Incident
The Metropolitan Police Command reported that the owner was a 72-year-old man who told police the puppy escaped from his property as he was walking onto it. Due to health problems and mobility issues, the man began searching for the animal with his car and found it about 150 meters from home.
The frightened puppy reportedly refused to enter the car. The police noted that “the solution the 72-year-old chose to bring the dog back was one of the worst and most risky – for the animal being pulled on a leash, other road users, and the man himself.” Fortunately, no collision or accident occurred, and the dog returned home safely.
Animal Welfare and Legal Consequences
Police who visited the man’s home also checked the conditions of his animals. According to the Metropolitan Police Command, “the dogs are well-cared for, well-fed, and have good living conditions.”
The command thanked alert drivers who exercised caution when passing the vehicle. “The final decision regarding legal consequences will be made in the near time,” the statement concluded.
