Morawiecki’s Future: Readers Predict Split from PiS

A survey of readers indicates overwhelming support for former Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki establishing a new political party outside of PiS.

Morawiecki’s New Association Sparks Debate

On April 16th, the creation of the “Rozwój Plus” (Development Plus) association, an initiative by Mateusz Morawiecki, was reported. The association aims to be a platform for discussions on the economy and development, but immediately drew attention due to the involvement of politicians linked to the Law and Justice (PiS) party.

A reader poll was conducted to gauge the potential future course of action for the former prime minister.

Readers Favor New Party Formation

The survey results show a dominant expectation that Mateusz Morawiecki will leave PiS and form his own political party. 47.75% of respondents answered “definitely yes,” and 38.56% answered “probably yes,” totaling over 86% of all votes.

Minority Expect Continued PiS Alignment

A significantly smaller percentage of respondents believe Morawiecki will remain within PiS. 4.95% chose “definitely not,” 4.86% chose “probably not,” and 3.87% indicated they had no opinion. A total of 1110 people participated in the poll.

The most frequent response, “definitely yes,” received 530 votes. The results were collected on April 21, 2026.

Kaczyński and Morawiecki Discuss Future Collaboration

On April 21st, Jarosław Kaczyński and Mateusz Morawiecki announced their intention to continue cooperating within PiS following a seven-hour discussion during dinner. It was agreed that individuals associated with the “Rozwój Plus” association would join the party’s expert council and operate within its structures.

The joint appearance at the party headquarters on Nowogrodzka Street was intended to calm the situation surrounding the former prime minister’s new initiative.

Disagreements Emerge After Initial Agreement

However, the unified message did not last long, as discrepancies quickly arose regarding the details of the agreement. Some PiS politicians interpreted the statement about “suspending activities” as an announcement of limiting the association, while Morawiecki’s associates emphasized that there was no talk of banning new members.

Different interpretations and reactions on social media demonstrated that tensions within the party remained visible despite declarations of unity.
