Motorcycle Collides with Tram in Warsaw’s Praga-Południe District

A motorcyclist was seriously injured after colliding with a tram on Aleja Waszyngtona in Warsaw around 3:22 PM on Wednesday, April 22nd.

Collision Details

On Wednesday, April 22nd, at approximately 3:22 PM, a Honda PCX125 motorcycle collided with tram line 74 at the intersection of Aleja Waszyngtona and Międzyborska.

Preliminary reports indicate both the tram and motorcycle were traveling in the same direction when the motorcyclist turned right despite a prohibition, entering the path of the oncoming tram.

Emergency Response and Aftermath

The tram operator initiated braking but was unable to avoid the collision. The motorcyclist and motorcycle were dragged several meters along the tracks.

Firefighters, police, and medical personnel were dispatched to the scene. The injured motorcyclist was unconscious when transported to the hospital.

Traffic Disruption

Police, including a crash investigation team, secured the scene and conducted procedural activities. Tram traffic resumed in the area after police operations concluded, after 5:00 PM.

Public Transport Updates

Warsaw Transport Authority (WTP) reported disruptions to lines 9 and 74 due to the blocked passage at the intersection of Waszyngtona and Międzyborska, with potential delays and detours.

Line 9 and 74 were diverted via P+R al. Krakowska, rondo Daszyńskiego to Grochowska – al. Zieleniecka – al. Józefa Poniatowskiego.
