Nawrocki Invites Politicians Amid Warning: “The Wolf Has Gone Hunting”

Polish President Karol Nawrocki has summoned parliamentary party leaders to individual meetings at the Presidential Palace on January 29 to discuss current cooperation.

Presidential Meetings Scheduled

President of Poland Karol Nawrocki has invited representatives of all parliamentary clubs and coalitions to meetings at the Presidential Palace. According to presidential spokesman Rafał Leśkiewicz, the gatherings will take place on January 29 and will address current cooperation between the President and parliament.

The meetings will be conducted individually with each parliamentary group. Currently, Poland’s parliament includes the following clubs: PiS, KO, PSL, Polska 2050, Lewica, Konfederacja, Demokracja Bezpośrednia, Razem, and Konfederacja Korony Polskiej.

Political Analyst’s Interpretation

Political scientist Prof. Antoni Dudek provided analysis of these meetings in Polsat News, suggesting that Nawrocki wants to assess if Polska 2050 has sufficiently fragmented to be exploited.

“The wolf has gone hunting,” Dudek stated, suggesting the President may want to personally check the mood among smaller coalition partners who are experiencing a difficult period. The professor views this as an attempt to test coalition cohesion, particularly since the meetings will be with individual clubs rather than all MPs collectively.

Constitutional Changes in Question

According to Dudek’s assessment, Nawrocki aims to probe whether various political groups would be willing to support constitutional changes that would strengthen the President’s position.

Parliamentary Council Established

Two weeks prior to these meetings, Nawrocki appointed members to the Council of Parliamentarians, a consultative body designed to support the President with parliamentary knowledge and experience in creating citizen-friendly legislation.

The council includes MPs from PiS (Marcin Horała and Szymon Szynkowski vel Sęk), PSL (Uruszula Nowogórska and Urszula Pasławska), Konfederacja (Grzegorz Płaczek and Witold Tumanowicz), as well as unaffiliated MP Paulina Matysiak.

Notably, politicians from KO, Nowa Lewica, and Polska 2050 did not join this council.
