President Rafał Nawrocki met with government representatives and heads of security services in a meeting that started after 12:00 and lasted for an extended period. Discussions focused on national security and officer nominations. Presidential spokesman Rafał Leśkiewicz described the meeting as “constructive and substantive,” noting that the president received reports from four service chiefs on critical security threats.
Leśkiewicz stated that Nawrocki heard what he “wanted to hear in October” when he invited the service chiefs to the Presidential Palace. The spokesman also announced that such meetings will be held cyclicly, with General Andrzej Kowalski assessing that a “new era in relations between the president and the heads of services” is beginning.
Breakthrough on Officer Nominations?
The topic of officer nominations, promotions, and awards for special services was also raised. Presidential spokesman Rafał Leśkiewicz stated that President Nawrocki has pledged to review the submitted applications and make decisions based on information about the respective officers.
Ministry of National Defense’s Position
Minister of National Defense Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz stated after the meeting that they presented the president with information on national security and the development of the services. He expressed optimism that the president will be more favorable towards officer nominations. Coordinator of Special Services Tomasz Siemoniak emphasized a willingness to cooperate, stating they are “absolutely open” to providing information in a different format if requested.
Siemoniak noted that the meeting also served to present information on the activities of the special services and to review the priorities of each service.
