Nawrocki Responds to Trump’s Controversial Remarks on Afghanistan

Polish President Karol Nawrocki defended fallen soldiers after Trump questioned NATO allies’ commitment.

Nawrocki Honors Fallen Soldiers

On Friday evening, Karol Nawrocki posted on social media emphasizing Polish soldiers’ heroism in Afghanistan. “There is no doubt that Polish soldiers are Heroes. They deserve respect and thanks for their service. In Afghanistan, 44 brave Poles died: 43 soldiers and one civilian. They will forever remain in our memory!” he stated.

President’s Office Defends Poland’s Record

Earlier, Marcin Przydacz, head of the President’s International Office, highlighted Poland’s military legacy. “Polish soldiers have repeatedly proven their deep commitment to serving the Fatherland,” he wrote. Przydacz noted Trump praised Poland’s spirit in a Davos conversation, adding: “Criticism of some European countries cannot apply to Poland or Polish soldiers. Using this to attack the Polish President is cynical.”

Critics Slam Vague Responses

Commentators criticized the responses. Andrzej Bobiński asked: “Mr. President, who doesn’t respect them?” Anna Maria Żukowska called Nawrocki’s delayed defense “somersault-worthy of the Olympics.” Jakub Majmurek likened it to deflecting insults by citing past praise. Maciej Bąk of Radio ZET noted: “The Presidential Palace clings unconditionally to Trump, even in the face of his shameful words.”
