During a Halloween candy‑collecting event in the Bałuty district of Łódź, a mother found needles in sweets, and police have since clarified the prank was carried out by a minor.
Incident Details
In late October, a mother of a child who was gathering Halloween treats in Łódź’s Bałuty district reported that some candies contained needles. The story first surfaced online when stand‑up comedian Aleksandra Radomska, whose daughter was among the collectors, posted about the discovery on social media.
Police Investigation
Police spokesperson Bartłomiej Arcimowicz confirmed that the needle incident stemmed from a prank by a minor, estimated to be 11–12 years old. The authorities noted that no law was broken by the candy distributors, and since no complaint was lodged, no formal investigation was opened against the child.
Responsibility and Consequences
Arcimowicz stated that none of the adults involved in handing out candy acted outside the law. The mother of one of the affected girls said she would address the situation within her family, noting the child now understood the mistake.
Public Warning and Clarifications
Radomska clarified on her social media that the perpetrator was a minor who “intentionally placed needles as a joke, not realizing the consequences.” She added that her post was solely meant to warn others and to avoid online backlash, not to scare anyone.
