No Vision for Justice: Rosati Criticizes Bodnar and Żurek

Przemysław Rosati, President of the Supreme Bar Council, has sharply criticized the Ministry of Justice, accusing Minister Adam Bodnar and Waldemar Żurek of failing to implement a coherent reform strategy.

A Year Without a Vision

Przemysław Rosati stated that Minister Bodnar lacked a clear vision for the judiciary. Regarding Minister Waldemar Żurek’s tenure, nearing its first anniversary, Rosati expressed difficulty in identifying any concrete plan for the justice system.

Questioned during Polsat News’ “Punkt Widzenia Szubartowicza” on whether any problems had been solved, Rosati replied: “Have they solved any? Trying to solve something and actually having a plan to do so are often two completely different things.”

Misplaced Priorities in Judicial Reform

The Bar Council President labeled the ministry’s recent actions, particularly the dismissal of court presidents, as secondary matters that do not improve the actual functioning of the justice system. He argued that the ministry has failed to deliver successes in daily judicial operations.

Rosati highlighted the stalled amendment of the criminal procedure as a key example of the ministry’s inefficiency. He noted that while a presidential proposal similar to the government’s bill is currently waiting in the Sejm, it is not being processed despite its potential to bridge political divides.

The Definition of the Rule of Law

Rosati also criticized the ministry for inaction regarding the unified status of judges and failures to modernize and digitize legal procedures. He stressed that the rule of law is not merely a slogan, but something that must be realized daily within the courtroom.
