One in Ten Heart Attacks in Poland Affects Those Under 45

Heart disease is no longer a problem solely for seniors in Poland, with one in ten heart attacks now occurring in individuals under 45 years old.

Statistics on Heart Health in Poland Raise Concerns

Despite advances in medicine, cardiovascular diseases remain a leading cause of death in Poland. Nearly 11 million adult citizens suffer from hypertension, often called the “silent killer.”

While heart disease is often associated with the elderly, it increasingly affects younger adults. Data indicates that one in three adult Poles has hypertension, and one in ten heart attacks in Poland occur in patients under 45.

The Trap of “Apparent Health” at Work

Ignoring key health parameters can lead to serious complications that develop silently over decades, with many Poles unknowingly operating at high risk.

Workplace Stress and Cardiovascular Risk

Piotr Leszczyński, medical director of LongLife, points out that a lack of sick leave doesn’t necessarily indicate a healthy team. He emphasizes that heart problems don’t arise suddenly, but are the result of years of strain: chronic stress, lack of exercise, poor diet, sleep deprivation, and delayed check-ups.

Work significantly impacts lifestyle, so employers should also be attentive to employee health. Managers and those working under time pressure are particularly vulnerable, as their bodies learn to ignore warning signs until a sudden event like a heart attack or stroke occurs.

Outsmarting the Disease Through Early Diagnostics

Lowering the “barrier to entry” for diagnostics is key. Traditional medical packages often lose out to a lack of time. On-site workplace health screenings can provide a solution, removing the need for travel and waiting in lines, encouraging employees to check their heart health before symptoms appear.

Remember: the heart doesn’t hurt when it starts to get sick; it begins to hurt when it’s too late for simple preventative measures.
