Orban Reacts to Nawrocki’s Letter, Declares ‘Rebellion’; ‘Now We Are Two’

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has responded on X to Polish President Rafał Nawrocki’s letter denouncing the EU migrant pact, warning that a third joining would spark a rebellion.

Orban’s Response on X

On October 9, Viktor Orban posted on X after the release of President Rafał Nawrocki’s letter. He remarked that Europe is changing, that Poland refuses the migrant pact, and that if a third country joins, it would constitute a rebellion.

Nawrocki’s Letter to von der Leyen

The letter, released by Nawrocki’s chief of staff, states that Poland will not endorse any EU action leading to the settlement of legal migrants in the country. It outlines four‑year pressure on Poland’s eastern border and highlights Poland’s allocation of resources for border security, its support for Ukrainian war refugees, and the presence of about one million Ukrainians in Poland.

EU Migrant Pact Framework

The pact consists of eight regulations and two directives that bind all 27 EU member states. It was approved by the European Parliament in April 2024, by the Council in May 2024, and will enter into force in June 2026.

Brussels Warning of Consequences

In March, Brussels cautioned Warsaw that nations jeopardizing the pact would face legal repercussions.
