Pamir, a young snow leopard born at Warsaw Zoo, will be transferred to Germany’s Tiergarten Nuremberg on 19 November 2025.

Pamir, a male snow leopard, is scheduled to depart Warsaw Zoo for the Tiergarten Nuremberg. The move was officially announced as a routine transfer coordinated under international breeding programmes.
Departure Scheduled for November 2025
The transfer is set for 19 November 2025. Until then, visitors may still see Pamir in the snow leopard enclosure.
Background of the Young Panther
Pamir was born on 2 June 2024 at Warsaw Zoo, the son of Suri and Jamir. From early weeks he has been one of the zoo’s most recognizable residents, and he completed his first year in June.
Genetic Management Plan
The decision was made by the species coordinator to maintain a sufficient genetic pool in the captive population. Warsaw Zoo emphasized that Pamir’s new home will be Tiergarten Nuremberg.
Visit Opportunity & Conservation Status
The zoo reminds visitors that until Pamir’s departure, the snow leopard enclosure—adjacent to the lions—will remain open for those wishing to say farewell to the “Mountain Spirit.”
Snow leopards are endangered, with estimates of 4,000–6,500 individuals in the wild. Declining numbers are driven by poaching, habitat loss, and climate change.
Pamir’s parents, Suri and Jamir, will stay in Warsaw, and the zoo will continue to showcase the species in its enclosure.
