Following the filing of a formal request to waive the European Parliament immunity of MEP Patryk Jaki, public opinion remains starkly divided regarding his tenure and recent investigative controversies.
The Immunity Dispute
Patryk Jaki has become the focal point of a political firestorm after a motion to lift his parliamentary immunity was submitted to the European Parliament. The inquiry centers on the operations of the Prison Service between 2015 and 2023 and the Ministry of Justice’s oversight during that period.
The PiS MEP has rejected the allegations, dismissing the prosecutor’s actions as baseless during a recent appearance on Polsat News. Jaki also proposed the future formation of a special commission to investigate the circumstances surrounding such legal proceedings.
Survey Results on Jaki’s Performance
A reader poll conducted on June 9, 2026, revealed strong opinions on Jaki’s political career, with 3,861 total votes cast. Nearly 80 percent of respondents expressed approval, with 44.42 percent choosing “rather positive” and 35.53 percent opting for “definitely positive.”
Critical feedback made up a smaller share of the responses. “Definitely negative” was selected by 18.44 percent of participants, while 1.48 percent viewed his work “rather negatively.” A negligible fraction of respondents remained undecided.
A History of Public Controversies
Jaki’s career has been marked by repeated media scrutiny, including a 2026 police investigation regarding improper vehicle parking. His recent visit to the United States also sparked a public spat with Polish Radio correspondent Marek Wałkuskie over meetings with figures like Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna.
Other notable controversies include 2023 reports regarding firms tied to his political associates securing public contracts, and the 2021 suspension of his TikTok account. Jaki characterized the platform’s decision at the time as an act of political censorship against conservative viewpoints.
