A new poll indicates a significant shift in Polish political preferences, with the ruling Law and Justice party (PiS) reaching a record low in support.
PiS Records Lowest Ever Support
The latest public opinion poll reveals substantial changes on the Polish political scene. Law and Justice (PiS) has recorded its lowest level of support to date, potentially signaling a weakening of the party’s position.
Civic Coalition Leads CBOS Poll
According to a CBOS poll cited in reports, if parliamentary elections were held in mid-April, the Civic Coalition (Koalicja Obywatelska) would receive approximately 32 percent of the vote. This represents one of the best results for the group in recent times and confirms a growing trend.
PiS Support Declines to 18.2 Percent
PiS currently holds 18.2 percent support, a decrease of several percentage points compared to the previous survey and the party’s lowest result in recent measurements.
Konfederacja Gains Momentum
Konfederacja occupies third place with around 13 percent support, also experiencing growth. Other groups, such as The New Left, and smaller political formations would also likely gain seats in the Sejm.
Broader Trend of Shifting Political Landscape
These shifts in party support align with a broader trend observed in recent months. Subsequent public opinion polls demonstrate a gradual weakening of PiS alongside the strengthening of its competitors.
Increased Political Fragmentation Possible
The growing number of groups with substantial support may lead to greater fragmentation of the political scene. This could necessitate the formation of broad coalitions to establish a government.
Record Low for PiS Signals Potential Change
PiS’s record low result may serve as a warning signal for the party and foreshadow further changes in the balance of political power in Poland.
