PiS Reaches Compromise on New Association, Aims for Broader Appeal

Jarosław Kaczyński and Mateusz Morawiecki announced a compromise regarding Morawiecki’s new association, Rozwój Plus, which will function within the PiS party structure.

Kaczyński and Morawiecki Announce Agreement

PiS leader Jarosław Kaczyński announced a compromise with former Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki regarding the future of the Rozwój Plus association founded by Morawiecki. The association will not be dissolved but will operate “as if within the party.”

Meeting Between Key PiS Figures

The agreement followed a meeting on Monday evening between Kaczyński, Morawiecki, and PiS MP Adam Bielan. The meeting garnered attention due to the formation of Rozwój Plus, which had reportedly attracted dozens of PiS parliamentarians.

Association to Function Within Party Structure

Kaczyński stated that the seven-hour discussion resulted in a compromise where the association’s activities would be conducted “as if within the party.”

Creation of Expert Council Proposed

During a meeting of the PiS Political Committee, the idea of establishing an Expert Council was proposed, to which members of the association would be invited. Kaczyński clarified that this does not mean the association will be liquidated.

Further Work on Association’s Role

Further work is planned to “resolve the issue of the association,” with several potential solutions currently being considered within the party.

“Two Lungs” for PiS

As a result of the agreement, Kaczyński stated that the party will have “two lungs.” He explained that PiS intends to appeal to supporters of the Confederation and Korona Polska Confederation, as well as more “radical voters” – a role he emphasized would be filled by PiS’s prime ministerial candidate, Przemysław Czarnek. The “second lung” will focus on attracting those who prioritize an effectively functioning government and “stability,” a role Morawiecki will fulfill.
