16-Year-Old Injured in Bike Stunt Accident Aided by Municipal Police

Municipal police officers in Warsaw came to the aid of a 16-year-old cyclist who suffered a painful fall while performing bike stunts on Sunday afternoon, August 9.

Accident at the Warsaw Bikepark

Bike stunts ended in a painful fall for a teenager on Sunday, August 9, around 5:30 PM, while municipal officers from the 2nd Territorial Unit were patrolling Belgradzka Street. A young girl approached the officers to report that her friend had suffered an accident at a nearby bikepark and led them to the scene. Among a group of young cyclists, officers found a boy who had fallen hard while performing acrobatics, resulting in a severely swollen wrist and abrasions on his hands and temple.

Helmet Prevents Severe Head Trauma

Despite the hard fall, the teenager’s head injuries proved minor because he was wearing a helmet while riding. The helmet cushioned the impact and protected him from a more serious injury. After checking the young man’s condition, the officers called an ambulance and stayed with the injured boy until the medical crew arrived to provide support. Paramedics treated the injuries on site, and fortunately, the young cyclist did not need to be transported to the hospital, allowing him to return home under the care of an adult friend where his mother was waiting.

Legal Requirements and Safety Advice

Helmets are useful not just during bike stunts, as a fall can happen even during a casual ride. Individuals under 16 years of age are legally required to wear a helmet while riding a bicycle, electric bicycle, electric scooter, and personal transport devices. While regulations do not compel older cyclists to do so, common sense dictates protecting the head since health and life are irreplaceable.
