2026 Matura Exam Results: 81.1 Percent Pass Rate Reported

The Central Examination Board (CKE) released national 2026 matura results on Wednesday, showing that 81.1 percent of high school graduates passed all mandatory examinations, while a significant segment remains eligible for August retakes.

National Performance Breakdown

According to data released by the Central Examination Board (CKE) on Wednesday, July 8, 81.1 percent of this year’s graduates successfully earned their maturity certificate. This indicates that more than four out of every five students met the minimum requirements for all mandatory subjects.

The current session is not over for all students. Approximately 12.3 percent are eligible for a retake exam in August, as they failed only one mandatory subject. However, 6.6 percent failed more than one subject and are ineligible for the August make-up period.

Disparities by School Type

Performance varies significantly by educational track. Graduates of general secondary schools (licea) achieved the highest success rate at 85.9 percent. In contrast, technical school graduates reached a 71.3 percent pass rate, creating a 14.6 percentage point gap between the two.

Students from second-degree trade schools recorded the lowest performance, with only 15.4 percent passing. These figures confirm a persistent trend where general secondary students outperform those from technical and vocational paths.

Comparison and Exam Requirements

The 81.1 percent national pass rate represents a slight improvement over the 2025 figure of 80 percent. However, these figures are preliminary and will adjust following the August retakes. In 2025, the final success rate rose to 86.1 percent after the late-summer session.

To pass, students were required to score at least 30 percent on all mandatory written and oral exams, including Polish, mathematics, and a foreign language. While students also had to sit for at least one extended-level elective exam, there was no minimum passing threshold for those subjects, though they remain critical for university admissions.

Accessing Results and Retake Procedures

Graduates can view their individual results via the Integrated User Interface (ZIU) system. These online records are for information purposes and do not replace formal certificates issued by regional examination boards.

Students eligible for the retake must submit a declaration by July 15, 2026. Written retakes are scheduled for August 24, with oral exams following on August 25. Final results for the entire 2026 matura session will be published on September 11.
