Fatal Collision Near Krubin
In the night between August 5 and 6, in the Krubin area of Legionowo County, a 32-year-old woman was fatally struck by a Koleje Mazowieckie train. The incident caused serious disruptions on the railway line connecting Warsaw with Modlin and the northern part of Mazovia.
The emergency services received the accident report on Thursday, August 6, at around 2 AM. The collision occurred near Je藕dziecka Street in Krubin, along the railway route between Nowy Dw贸r Mazowiecki and Chotom贸w.
A Koleje Mazowieckie train traveling from Modlin to Warsaw Central struck the woman located in the track area. The 32-year-old’s injuries proved fatal, and a physician arriving at the scene pronounced her dead.
Rescue Operations and Evacuation
Three fire department units were dispatched to the scene, representing the Rescue and Firefighting Unit in Legionowo, the Voluntary Fire Department in Krubin, and the VFD in Jan贸wek-G贸ra. Emergency medical personnel, police officers, Railway Security Guard personnel, and railway representatives also worked at the site.
Firefighters assisted in the evacuation of approximately 35 passengers traveling on the train. None of the passengers or crew members sustained any injuries.
Investigation Underway
Procedural activities were conducted at the scene for several hours. Police officers from the investigative and detaining group worked under the supervision of a prosecutor to secure evidence and determine the exact course and circumstances of the woman’s death. At this stage, authorities have not provided information on why the 32-year-old was in the track area.
Major Rail Disruptions
The accident led to the suspension and limitation of rail traffic on the route passing through Legionowo and Nowy Dw贸r Mazowiecki. The disruptions affected Koleje Mazowieckie trains and long-distance services, among others.
In the morning hours, some PKP Intercity trains heading toward Krak贸w and Ko艂obrzeg recorded delays reaching approximately three hours. The disruptions could have also affected connections leading toward Warsaw-Modlin Airport.
