A 36-year-old Ukrainian citizen has been arrested in Zielona G贸ra after allegedly threatening President Karol Nawrocki in an online video conversation streamed on a random chat platform.
The Online Incident
The arrest follows a viral video recording from several days ago. A Polish streamer using an online service that connects random users was paired with a man claiming to be a Ukrainian citizen. During the exchange, the man claimed to possess a weapon intended for “killing dictators,” specifically naming President Karol Nawrocki.
Police Investigation and Charges
Police immediately launched an investigation and interviewed the streamer before locating the suspect. On Saturday, Junior Aspirant Anna Baran of the Zielona G贸ra Municipal Police confirmed the 36-year-old had been detained.
The suspect faces charges under Article 226 of the Polish Penal Code, which concerns the public insult or humiliation of a constitutional organ of the Republic of Poland. The offense carries a penalty of a fine, restricted liberty, or up to two years in prison.
Previous Similar Threats
This is not an isolated incident. In November, police arrested a 19-year-old Polish man for similar threats against Nawrocki. That suspect allegedly posted a comment on X, “See you, Karolku,” accompanied by a photo of a person holding an object resembling a firearm, under a post showing the President at a national football match. The 19-year-old is currently under police supervision and is prohibited from approaching the President or the Presidential Chancellery.
