The Verdict and Criminal Charges
The court found Mamed Ch. guilty of several counts related to the receipt of stolen goods between 2016 and 2017. Charges involved the acquisition or attempted acquisition of stolen high-end vehicles, including a BMW M6 GT, a Porsche Panamera, and a BMW 750 X-drive in Poland and the Czech Republic.
For these offenses, the court imposed a combined sentence of one year and six months of imprisonment, alongside fines totaling 280,000 PLN. Mamed Ch. was acquitted of charges regarding the unauthorized possession of firearms.
Arson and Police Altercation
In addition to financial crimes, the court convicted the fighter for orchestrating the burning of a BMW and a Volkswagen Polo in Rybnik in April 2017, resulting in a six-month sentence. He was also fined for assaulting a police officer during an arrest in Olsztyn in 2018 and for insulting officers on duty.
The court ordered Mamed Ch. to pay damages of 30,000 PLN and 25,000 PLN to the respective victims of the arson, as well as 2,000 PLN in compensation to the officer whose physical integrity he violated.
Broader Criminal Investigation
The trial was part of a larger investigation into a criminal group accused of trading stolen cars, circulating counterfeit euro banknotes, and other economic crimes. The Silesian division of the National Prosecutor’s Office filed indictments against Mamed Ch. and 17 other individuals.
Investigators pursued a total of 140 charges against the group. Law enforcement recovered eight stolen vehicles valued at approximately 1.2 million PLN. The ruling of the District Court in Tarnowskie G贸ry is not yet final.
Background of the Athlete
Born in Grozny in 1980, Mamed Ch. moved to Poland in 1997 and received Polish citizenship in 2010. A prominent figure in the Polish MMA scene, he held titles including the KSW championship before retiring from professional sports in 2018.
