Kaczyński’s Strategic Play to Divide Konfederation

With next year’s elections approaching, Jarosław Kaczyński is reportedly maneuvering to build a right-wing coalition by courting select figures, including Krzysztof Bosak, in a bid to fracture the Konfederation party.

The Proposed Right-Wing Coalition

According to reports from Radio ZET, Jarosław Kaczyński intends to form a broad right-wing coalition. Those invited or expected to join include Paweł Kukiz, Marek Jakubiak, Marek Woch, leaders of the Border Defense Movement, and Krzysztof Bosak, one of the leaders of Konfederation.

The primary goal behind this strategy is to split Konfederation. Simultaneously, PiS aims to frame the party’s other leader, Sławomir Mentzen, as an entrepreneur merely “playing at politics” rather than a true representative of the right wing.

Denials and Deception Allegations

Krzysztof Bosak has denied receiving any such proposal, labeling the reports as disinformation operations conducted by politicians close to the PiS leadership. He asserted that the only truth in these accounts is that PiS leadership fantasizes about breaking up Konfederation and discusses these plans with journalists.

Bosak previously emphasized that no “joint victory” between PiS and Konfederation is possible, stating that the parties will compete against each other during the election campaign rather than forming agreements.

Strained Relations with Mentzen

Recent polling suggests PiS may struggle to secure an independent majority in the Sejm, necessitating coalition talks. However, Jarosław Kaczyński has long-standing conflicts with Sławomir Mentzen, having previously stated that no coalition with him is possible.

Tensions remain high following the release of a ten-point “Polish Declaration” by PiS in July 2025. Mentzen argued that the document was deliberately designed to be unacceptable to Konfederation, characterizing Kaczyński as a political actor who undermines his partners.
