Ukraine Strikes Major Russian Refinery in Bashkortostan

Ukrainian Special Operations Forces, assisted by the Black Spark resistance movement, executed a precision drone strike on the Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat refinery during the night of July 13–14.

Operation and Target Details

Ukrainian Special Operations Forces (SSO) reported that their Deep Strike units successfully targeted the Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat complex in the Republic of Bashkortostan. This facility was noted as the final major gasoline production plant in Russia that had not yet been attacked in 2026.

Drone strikes successfully hit critical infrastructure, specifically the ABT-6 atmospheric-vacuum distillation unit, alongside other production facilities within the complex.

Strategic Impact on Russian Industry

The Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat plant is one of Russia’s largest refining complexes, with an annual crude oil processing capacity of approximately 10 million tons. It supplies essential gasoline, diesel, aviation fuel, and lubricants to both the Russian economy and its armed forces.

Additional Strikes in Krasnodar

The Ukrainian General Staff also confirmed a fresh attack on the Afipsky refinery in the Krasnodar region. The strike resulted in a fire, with authorities currently assessing the full scale of the damage.

With an annual capacity of 6.25 million tons, the Afipsky refinery is a key facility for fuel production in southern Russia, serving military logistics.

Escalation of Energy Infrastructure Attacks

Throughout June and July 2026, Ukrainian forces have significantly intensified their campaign against Russia’s fuel infrastructure. Kyiv maintains that these strikes on refineries and export terminals are necessary to disrupt the logistical support underpinning the Russian war machine.
