Court Rejects Joanna Kurska’s Lawsuit Against TVP

The Warsaw Regional Court has dismissed a lawsuit filed by former “Pytania na śniadanie” head Joanna Kurska against TVP, in which she sought an apology and 100,000 PLN in damages.

Dismissal of claims

The Warsaw Regional Court ruled on Tuesday against Joanna Kurska in her entirety, rejecting her demands for an apology and compensation. Kurska had sued TVP and Paweł Płuska, the editor of the program “19.30”, over a broadcast report claiming she earned over 117,000 PLN per month at the public broadcaster.

Legal and financial context

According to TVP’s corporate communications department, the court’s judgment is not yet final. TVP General Director Tomasz Sygut commented on social media that the lawsuit was one of many inherited by the current administration, noting that reports also mentioned the Kurski family earned nearly 10 million PLN from the broadcaster.

Kurska’s response

Joanna Kurska has announced her intention to appeal the verdict. In a statement to Press.pl, she described the court’s decision as “scandalous” and “political,” maintaining that TVP failed to provide evidence for the reported monthly salary and that such a figure never reached her accounts.

Career history at TVP

Joanna Kurska served as deputy director for programming coordination at TVP in 2016 before later leading the department. She returned to the network in 2022 as a producer and editor-in-chief of “Pytania na śniadanie,” with her contract ending in January 2023.
