Man Arrested for Plotting Machete Attack on Poznań Kindergarten

A 29-year-old man was arrested in Poznań after using social media to threaten a kindergarten massacre and polling followers on which facility he should target with a machete.

The suspect’s arrest followed incriminating social media posts where he declared his intent to attack children at a kindergarten in a specific Poznań district. He further escalated the threat by creating a poll that allowed users to vote on which facility he should target.

In a separate post on a different platform, the 29-year-old revealed his specific motivations and outlined a detailed plan for carrying out the crime.

Police Intervention and Discovery

Poznań District Prosecutor’s Office spokesperson Łukasz Wawrzyniak stated that authorities took immediate action to neutralize the real threat, identifying the man quickly to prevent a tragedy. He was apprehended in his home just hours after his posts were published.

During a search of the suspect’s apartment, police recovered a machete and psychotropic substances.

Legal Proceedings and Confession

The suspect has been charged with preparing to commit murder, an offense punishable by two to 15 years in prison, as well as drug possession. He confessed to the acts, claiming his motives were driven by a desire for attention.

A court has ordered the man to be held in custody for three months as the investigation continues.
