Russia Launches Fresh Wave of Attacks Targeting Medical Facilities

Eight people were killed and 26 injured as Russian forces targeted Odessa, Sumy, and Kharkiv regions with guided bombs, missiles, and drones, according to local Ukrainian authorities and UN reports.

Eight people died and 26 were injured in Russian attacks across Odessa, Sumy, and Kharkiv. Local officials reported that residential buildings in Odessa were struck, resulting in three fatalities and three hospitalizations.

In the Sumy region, six guided aerial bombs hit local infrastructure, killing three people and injuring seven. One bomb struck specifically near medical facilities in a high-traffic area. Meanwhile, shelling in the Kharkiv region left two dead and 16 wounded.

Ukrainian Air Forces reported that Russia launched two missiles and 122 combat drones overnight. While 101 drones were intercepted, impacts were recorded in 19 different locations across the north, south, and east of the country.

UN Report: June Records Highest Civilian Toll Since 2022

A report from the UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine (HRMMU) states that June 2026 was the most lethal month for civilians in over four years. Attacks claimed 293 lives and left 1,990 people injured.

The report highlights that 45 percent of civilian deaths were caused by long-range missiles and drones targeting densely populated areas far from the front line, such as Kyiv and Dnipro. Danielle Bell, head of the HRMMU, noted that the increasing use of powerful, indiscriminate weaponry in urban zones significantly escalates risks for civilians.
