Downtown police have apprehended a 29-year-old woman responsible for a series of thefts and break-ins at multiple Warsaw gyms, where she targeted gym-goers’ personal belongings and identification documents.

A String of Thefts Uncovered
Officers from the Downtown Precinct’s Property Crimes Division investigated a series of reports involving stolen money and documents from gym lockers. The perpetrator’s consistent method of operation linked these incidents to similar crimes reported across various districts of the city.
Following a thorough investigation, detectives identified the suspect and arrested the 29-year-old woman, transporting her to the police station on Dzielna Street.
Modus Operandi Exposed
The investigation revealed that the woman would enter gyms under the guise of working out. While other members were training, she would break into locker room cabinets to steal cash, wallets, payment cards, and sensitive documents.
Her criminal activity spanned several fitness centers throughout the capital and its surrounding areas, resulting in losses totaling several thousand zlotys.
Legal Consequences and Public Safety
After spending a night in police custody, the 29-year-old was formally charged with burglary and theft of official documents. The investigation is currently being supervised by the District Prosecutor’s Office in Warsaw-Śródmieście.
Authorities advise gym users against keeping large sums of cash, valuables, or personal documents in lockers. Citizens are encouraged to report any suspicious behavior to facility staff or the police immediately.
