Ukrainian Ambassador Condemns Fatal Assault in Bytów

Following the death of a 36-year-old Polish man attacked by three Ukrainian nationals in Bytów, Ukraine’s Ambassador to Poland, Vasyl Bodnar, has publicly denounced the violence and expressed his condolences.

Official Response to the Bytów Attack

Ambassador Vasyl Bodnar stated that there is no justification for such brutal acts of violence in a civilized society. He emphasized that no individual has the right to take another person’s life.

The Ambassador stressed that in a state governed by law, such as Poland, every perpetrator must face a fair penalty once their guilt is proven. He offered his condolences to the victim’s family and wished a swift recovery to the woman injured in the same attack.

The Consulate General of Ukraine in Gdańsk also addressed the tragedy. Officials expressed their shock and conveyed deep sympathy to the family, friends, and loved ones of the deceased on behalf of the entire Ukrainian community.

Details of the Criminal Investigation

The attack occurred last Thursday in the center of Bytów, Pomeranian Voivodeship. Three suspects, aged 28, 30, and 37, allegedly assaulted a 36-year-old man and a 44-year-old woman.

The 36-year-old victim later died in the hospital due to his injuries, while the woman continues her recovery. Police have detained the three Ukrainian citizens, who now face potential prison sentences of up to 15 years.
