23-Year-Old Ukrainian National Detained Over Hate Speech Targeting Volhynian Massacre Commemoration Participants

Following an investigation into online threats and vulgar abuse directed at participants of the Volhynian Massacre Commemoration March, Warsaw police have detained a 23-year-old Ukrainian citizen in Bydgoszcz.

Investigation and Arrest

The arrest followed the circulation of online footage featuring public incitement to commit a crime and vulgar content directed at participants of the Volhynian Massacre Commemoration March. The Warsaw Metropolitan Police’s Investigation Department identified the suspect and secured evidence with the support of additional specialized units.

A coordinated police operation led to the suspect being located and apprehended in Bydgoszcz by officers from the Metropolitan Police’s Department for Combating Criminal Terror and Homicides.

Legal Charges and Immigration Proceedings

The 23-year-old suspect faces charges of publicly inciting a crime via social media against an individual participant of the event. Investigators deemed the act to have a high level of social harm.

Due to the nature of the offense, the man has been handed over to the Border Guard, accompanied by an official request for a deportation order requiring the foreigner to leave the country.

Official Stance on Hate Speech

The Warsaw Metropolitan Police stated they will consistently react to hate-motivated crimes and incitement to violence, regardless of the perpetrator’s nationality or origin.

Interior Minister Marcin Kierwiński addressed the case on social media, emphasizing that the government’s policy of zero tolerance for aggression and hatred remains in full effect, requiring police to respond firmly to all such acts.
