Warsaw police detained a 38-year-old Ukrainian national suspected of throwing a backpack onto the tracks at the Centrum metro station. The incident occurred on Monday.

The arrest took place near Marszałkowska Street less than an hour after the incident, according to Junior Aspirant Jakub Pacyniak, press officer for the District Police Commander Warsaw I, who confirmed the suspect remains in police custody.

Metro Line M1 Disruptions

Due to the abandoned luggage on the tracks at the Centrum station on Monday, trains on metro line M1 operated in two separate loops: Kabaty to Politechnika and Dworzec Gdański to Młociny.

To assist affected commuters, replacement bus services were deployed along the disrupted transit routes while authorities managed the situation.
